Cable Car World - home of new urban mobility shows the interfaces of cable cars and urban mobility
On June 21 and 22, 2022, Messe Essen will host Cable Car World for the first time, the world's first trade fair for the urban cable car mode of transport. In the middle of Germany's largest urban agglomeration, around 30 exhibitors will present how the cable car can become part of the urban mobility mix of the future. The range of products and services at Cable Car World extends from planning and manufacturing to the operation of finished installations. An integral part of the trade fair is a specialist congress at which more than 20 national and international experts will address current issues relating to mobility with urban cable cars in four thematic blocks. The organizer of Cable Car World is Messe Essen with Seilbahnen International Verlag as a partner. The patron is Hartmut Höppner, State Secretary in the Federal Ministry of Digital Affairs and Transport.
The starting point for the new trade show is the numerous considerations in Germany and worldwide to use cable cars in public transport in the future. "While traffic at the terrestrial level takes up a lot of space and often comes to a standstill, the focus in Europe and worldwide is on the plus-one level. This is where cable cars in particular operate, which are considered one of the safest means of transport and have been reliably in use at many locations for decades," says project manager Dominik Berndt, explaining the motives behind Cable Car World. Gerald Pichlmair, Managing Director at Seilbahnen International and also project manager, emphasizes: "The megatrends of urbanization and sustainability require a climate-protecting, social and multimodal change in transport. The urban cable car can make a significant contribution to this."
Manufacturers, suppliers and service providers present their offerings
Cable Car World is aimed in particular at employees from public administration and decision-makers from municipalities and federal states who are involved in the planning and implementation of urban mobility projects. Exhibitors in Hall 8 include leading general manufacturers and suppliers of cabins and cables. The range also includes software and access solutions as well as other services related to planning, operation and maintenance. The companies Bartholet, BPD Immobilienentwicklung, Doppelmayr, Drees & Sommer, Leitner, Arcadis and Transdev, for example, will be there, as will the law firm CBH Rechtsanwälte and the International Organization for Transportation by Rope OITAF.
The centerpiece of Cable Car World is the Mobility Lab with four thematic areas arranged in an open and spacious area: Society, Sustainability, Technology and Profitability. Here, visitors can come into direct contact with independent experts from various companies and institutions as well as with three of the world's largest cable car manufacturers. In addition to the industry, science also makes an important contribution to the further development of urban cable cars. For this reason, Cable Car World is dedicating a Science Wall to eleven renowned universities from Germany and Austria that are involved in urban cable cars to present their projects and research.
Two-day congress focuses on new opportunities and possibilities
The accompanying two-day Cable Car Congress is a central component of Cable Car World, so that all participants can take advantage of both offerings on the days of the event. The topics will include the factors for gaining acceptance for cable car projects, their technical and planning characteristics, legal and regulatory issues, as well as concrete cable car projects (best cases) and perspectives. Speakers include the Lord Mayors of Essen and Herne, Thomas Kufen and Dr. Frank Dudda, as well as Victor Vargas, Director of IST Cables in Colombia, and Patrick Vial, Project Manager at Tisséo Collectivités in France.
Cable Car World opens June 21 and 22 from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. each day. Visitors can participate in one or both days. Reduced tickets are only offered as 1-day tickets, regular tickets are also available as a combination ticket for both days. A 1-day ticket costs 299 euros plus VAT (reduced: 49 euros plus VAT, students: 20 euros incl. VAT), a 2-day ticket is available for 399 euros plus VAT. Visitors arriving by train will also benefit from the reduced event ticket of Deutsche Bahn.
